Joy Farrington is CEO of Lit Diva, Inc. a non-profit organization that supports, promotes, and empowers African-American book clubs and authors.  Ms. Farrington, also known as the Book Club Expert, is president of Nubian Sistas Book Club and founder the Lit Diva, Inc. entities: Nubian Literary Network, Nubian Lit News and the Lit Diva Network.

 Created in 2004, Nubian Sistas Book Club has been nominated for various awards including the 3rd Annual Marguerite Press Awards for Best Promoter and Best Website and are the proud winners of the 2004 Disilgold Most Aspiring Breakthrough Book Club of the Year and Best New Book Club.

Joy Farrington was nominated for Best Reviewer/Interviewer in the 4th Annual Marguerite Press Award and featured in the April, 2005 issue of “Urban American Newspaper” as one of the “Women in South Florida who … making moves in the Urban Community!!!”   


Ms. Farrington has made it her goal to showcase the many facets of African-American literature and book clubs through literary events, social networking and by encouraging readers to become more involved in the book community.   

In 2010, Joy Farrington published A Literary Diva’s Guide to Hosting a Fab Book Club Meeting which is being hailed as the blueprint for book clubs.  She is the host of Between the Sheets, a weekly teleconference which features top name African-American authors and give readers the opportunity to ask them a variety of questions.  Her most noted interview to date was with acclaimed author, poet and activist, Nikki Giovanni.   

Recently, The Book Club Expert has appeared  in the Write Your Book in 30 Days Home Study Course by Andrew Morrison and was the special guest host on the How to Enhance your Book Club Meeting Teleseminar hosted by The Black Book Club Experience.   

Currently, Joy Farrington is working on several local workshops and teleseminars to help guide book clubs in hosting meetings, literary events, inviting authors to their meeting and how to turn your book club into a business. She lives in Miami, Fl.
