  1. Hello: I have a question about book clubs from the other perspective. I am an author with a book coming out with Simon and Schuster in May and I would love to connect with book clubs. I am doing some traveling in support of the book and will be speaking at bookstores and at some churches, I would love to connect with women who love to read (and write) and connect more personally.

This is my author page if you care to take a peek. I would really appreciate any insight that you might provide…

    • Hi Joan,
You should try meetup.com. Do a search for book clubs in the cities you’re touring and contact them prior to going there. Email the contact person and tell them you’re trying to connect with different book clubs while on tour and ask them if they would be interested in making a Starbuck date or going out to dinner. During dinner, engage them in conversation and make connections with them without heavily promoting your book. Through the interaction, they may become more interested in you and your book and choose to read your book as a Book of the Month. Stay in touch with them by asking everyone for their email address, create a mailing list and send them a monthly newsletter or little notes frequently. Let me know how it goes, nubianlit@gmail.com

BTW, love your author page. The video was really informative.

  2. I’m looking for T-shirts for my Book Club, however I have not found any that represents our style. We don’t want the baggy oversized T-shirts, we would like something with a little pizazz. I have a design in mind but have not been pleased with the artists work at any of the printing companies in my area. We would wear these shirts for events such as attending book club conferences or doing charity work– I think it would just show the unity with our group. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    • Hey Yolanda,
I’m glad you asked this question. When I was in Atlanta this summer, I met two wonderful women who own It All About Books, Novelty Items for Book Lovers (www.itsallaboutbooks.net). I purchased two t-shirts from them that I absolutely love and always get compliments on when I wear them. Their t-shirts aren’t baggy and contours to a women shape with showcasing any unmentionables. And best of all, they do customize orders. Visit their website at http://itsaboutbooks.net and check out their t-shirt designs. I’m sure you’ll find something that fits your needs.

  3. Thank you so… much Joy. I didn’t expect such a quick response. I checked out the site and absolutely love the colors they offer. I may need to have it customized in regards to what’s written on the shirts, but the colors and style is perfect. My search is finally over thanks to you!
